Moldovan gastarbeiters flee Italy home through Ukraine
Moldovan President Igor Dodon called on Moldovan citizens abroad to stay where they are and not try to return to the country while many borders are closed. Dodon said in his address after identifying a fourth case of coronavirus imported from Italy, according to the news agency. Dodon reported that five or six citizens of Moldova were blocked at the airport in Rome. Dear fellow citizens, we are waiting for you at home, but recommend staying where you are. Don 't try to go home right now. In transit zones, you can get quarantined for a few weeks, Dodon said. According to him, some citizens of Moldova may try to return to Moldova through Ukraine, so the Moldovan authorities have strengthened the section of the Moldovan-Ukrainian border. On the part of Romania, according to Dodon, there can be no flow, as Bucharest imposed strict restrictions and stopped transport with Italy. And Moldova has also cancelled all flights to and from Italy. The first case of coronavirus in Moldova was confirmed on March 7 in a woman returning from Italy. On March 10, coronavirus was diagnosed in two other people who also came from Italy, where there is a large number of gastarbeiters from Moldova. And on March 11, another young man returned from Italy. In the republic declared orange level of danger due to risk of coronavirus spread. And since March 11 in the country for two weeks closed all schools and kindergartens. Previously, all educational institutions were also closed in neighbouring Romania.
