SK of Belarus: chief editor of Our Niva suspected of slander

A criminal case has been instituted against the editor-in-chief of the Belarusian newspaper Nasha Niva Yegor Martinovich. He is suspected of slander against the deputy head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus Alexander Barsukov, the press service of the Investigative Committee (SC) of Belarus reports on September 24. The department clarifies that the basis for initiating the case was a publication in Our Niva, defaming Barsukov and containing deliberately false information about him, degrading honor and dignity. According to the news agency, the detention of the editor-in-chief of Our Niva Martinovich became known on September 23. In the newspaper, investigative measures were associated with an article in which DJ Vladislav Sokolovsky accused the deputy head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus Barsukov of beating him.
