US Consulate General in Chinese Chengdu stopped work


The United States Consulate General in Chengdu, China, officially ceased its work, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a statement. According to the CGTN television channel, a group of diplomatic mission employees left the consulate on July 27 at 06:00 local time (01:00 Moscow time), at 06:18 the US flag was lowered. According to the news agency, earlier Washington demanded that Beijing close the consulate general of the PRC in the city of Houston in the US state of Texas. According to US officials, the diplomatic mission has long been used by the Chinese government and the intelligence services of this country to steal valuable medical developments, and was also involved in attempts to infiltrate the oil and gas industry.
