Israel may be behind fire at Iran's nuclear facility - New York Times

The cause of the fire at the plant for the production of low-enriched uranium in the Iranian city of Netanz could be an explosive device installed by Israeli special services, July 5 reports The New York Times, citing intelligence data. According to an intelligence officer in one of the Middle Eastern countries, Israel was behind the attack, whose special services installed an explosive device at the enterprise. Information about the explosive device used was also confirmed by a soldier of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. He noted that both Tel Aviv and Washington could be behind the sabotage. Both sources who shared this information with the American publication wished to remain unnamed. Recall, on July 2, a fire occurred at a low-enriched uranium production plant in the Iranian city of Netanz, as a result of which one of the premises where the measuring equipment was located was partially destroyed. In Tehran, they assured that there was no leak of radioactive materials, no one was killed. Note also that Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz denied Israel's involvement in the incident in the Iranian city of Netanz. According to him, it is not necessary that Tel Aviv is related to the incident.
