CSTO Foreign Ministers to discuss establishment of relations between the organization and CIS and SCO


Today, May 26, the regular meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) will be held. According to the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Maria Rah, the event, which will be attended by the Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov, will take place in a videoconference. The issue of establishing ties between the organization and the CIS and SCO and jointly countering modern challenges and security threats will also be touched upon. It is planned to adopt a number of joint statements, in particular, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, on the confirmation of commitment to the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations, added in the press service of CSTO. As the news agency reported, in June it is planned to hold a meeting of the Council of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly. In connection with measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection, it may also take place by videoconference.
