Reuters: U.S. government is preparing new measures against Huawei

In US President Donald Trump's administration, measures are being developed to restrict the supply of chips to foreign manufacturers by Chinese company Huawei. This is reported by Reuters with reference to its sources. According to the agency, the Trump administration is proposing stricter rules for computer chip suppliers. Under the proposed measures, foreign companies using U.S. equipment would have to obtain a U.S. government license to supply Huawei chips. It is noted that this change will primarily affect the Taiwanese company TCMS, which is the largest chip manufacturer for the subsidiary Huawei HiSilicon. TCMS, like most other chip manufacturers, uses equipment from U.S. companies KLA Corp, Lam Research and Applied Materials. Recall, in May 2019, the U.S. government banned American companies from cooperating with Huawei without obtaining a special license. The restrictions also included a ban on Huawei's supply of products to foreign enterprises whose production chains use more than 25% of American technologies. As previously reported by the news agency, TSMC stated in May 2019 that the chips supplied to Huawei did not fall under the restrictions imposed by the U.S. government.
