Maduro announces start of military exercises in Venezuela


The second phase of the military exercise Bolivarian Shield 2020 started in Venezuela. President Nicholas Maduro announced the start of the manoeuvres on Twitter. We have embarked on the second phase of the military exercise Bolivarian Shield 2020 for Peace. Independence and intransigence of our Motherland, Maduro said. The beginning of an operation aimed at guaranteeing peace and full sovereignty throughout the country was also announced by Venezuelan Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino López. The new exercise is expected to increase the operational readiness of Bolivarian troops, as well as work out plans to defend Venezuela from a potential invader.
