In Macedonia, the Minister is deprived of her post for using the old name of the country

On the morning of 15 February, the Parliament of Northern Macedonia, by a majority vote (62), approved the proposal of the Head of Technical Government of the country Oliver Spassovski to deprive Rasheli Mizrahi of the post of Minister of Labour and Social Policy for refusing to use the new name of the country. Earlier, the decisions taken by Mizrahi in the ministerial post were annulled. This is reported by Albanian news agency Telegrafi. Rashel Mizrahi is part of the country's largest opposition party, the VMRO-DPMNE (Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization Democratic Party for Macedonian National Unity), opposing the terms of the Prespan Agreement with Greece and renaming the country from Macedonia to Northern Macedonia. Mizrahi took a seat in the technical government of Northern Macedonia on 3 January as a representative of the opposition. Despite the threat of a fine and complaints from colleagues from the SDSM (Social Democratic Union of Macedonia, Party of Power), the Minister repeatedly used the name Macedonia at official events. In connection with this position of Mizrahi, Greece appealed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Northern Macedonia with a note of protest, calling its actions a violation of the Prespan Agreement. Shortly before her resignation, Mizrahi held a meeting with the Russian Ambassador to Skopje, demonstrating Russian loyalty, which caused even more resentment among NATO and EU members of the country's establishment.
