EU representative: the problem of the Ilkhom Theatre is a challenge for Uzbekistan


The problem of eviction of the Ilhom Theatre will be a test for the authorities of Uzbekistan. This was announced by the heads of the representative office of the European Union in the republic Edward 13, Kun.uz on February 1, 2017. According to him, the authorities face the question: whether it is possible to carry out market reforms, preserving the diversity of the cultural heritage of the country. The EU representative added that the situation with the theater could negatively affect the attractiveness of Uzbekistan for investors and tourists. According to the news agency, the Tashkent theatre Ilhom is located in the hotel Shodlik, the new owner of which was Ofelos Plaza. On February 7, the theatre management received a letter from the new owner demanding to leave the facility until April 2020. The problem caused a wide public resonance.
